About

Welcome to Guitar Friendly! Whether you’re a beginning guitar player or one that’s been playing for awhile, my hope is that you would find something here that will help you become a better musician.

First, my name is Brett, and I’m the guy behind this guitar blog.

I have been playing guitar for around 10 years now. I originally started playing piano when I was six. Recently, I just graduated with a B. S. in Worship Leadership, which is a mix between theology, spiritual formation, and of course music. So over the past few years, I’ve been intensely studying music along with some other things.

I secretly wish I was a drummer. Although I’ve played drums, I would hardly consider myself a drummer. All to say, I love music, and I love to watch others grow in their abilities as musicians.

Why Guitar Friendly?

My hope is that this blog would be a helpful resource for those just beginning guitar and also those who’ve been playing for awhile but want to improve their ability.

One of the biggest joys about writing lessons for Guitar Friendly is that I am also challenged as a musician. It’s not easy to break down a guitar lesson about triads or scales (or you name it) when we’re not sitting in the same room. Writing lessons requires me to get down to the most simple aspects of playing guitar and then articulating them in a way that makes sense to you.

So the goal is that Guitar Friendly presents, describes, and teaches the techniques necessary to play the guitar well, in an easy and understandable way–a “friendly” way, if you will. If there is something that doesn’t make sense to you, please contact me and we’ll go through it!
